UK Tesco employees experiencing domestic abuse can take up to three days, or 21 hours, of paid safe leave. Agreed with the union Usdaw, the policy covers practical steps such as finding emergency accommodation or attending court without losing that pay.

Staff will not be asked for formal evidence of abuse. Managers have been trained to offer support and connect colleagues with specialist services. The leave gives employees paid time for appointments and arrangements that may be difficult to fit around a shift.
