At Camp Conowingo along Maryland’s Susquehanna River, restoration work is removing a forgotten dam and improving habitat on a 600-acre property used by Girl Scouts. The project is designed to benefit fish, wildlife, and the children who learn and explore there.

The work gives environmental education a physical place to begin. Campers will be able to see that restoring nature is not an abstract idea. It can mean opening a blocked stream, improving habitat, and making a familiar place healthier for people and wildlife together.
