San Francisco Public Utilities Commission partners have launched the Powerhouse Riffles Restoration Project on California’s Tuolumne River. The work is designed to improve spawning and rearing habitat for salmon and other native aquatic species by restoring part of the river’s mainstem.

River restoration is a long-term investment in a living system. Better riffles can give young fish places to grow, while the larger project connects water infrastructure, habitat, and the communities that depend on a healthy river.
