Tiny snowy plover chicks were released back into the wild at UC Santa Barbara’s Coal Oil Point Reserve. The release reflects the hands-on work of protecting a vulnerable coastal species through rehabilitation and habitat stewardship.
A successful release is both hopeful and practical. The birds still need safe habitat and continued monitoring, but returning them to the coast is the point of conservation: helping wildlife live where it belongs.
