Kalayna Walker, LSU’s 2025 Homecoming Queen, founded Alo Bloom to support young people living with alopecia and recently launched Rooted Boys, a mentorship program for boys with hair loss. Walker, who was diagnosed with alopecia as a child, designed the program around connection, play, and opportunities to feel understood.

The program’s goal is not to make alopecia disappear from a child’s life. It is to make sure the condition does not become the only thing that defines them. That distinction gives the story its strength: support can begin with recognition, then grow into friendship, confidence, and possibility.
