California is moving ahead with tire-efficiency rules designed to save drivers money and reduce carbon emissions over time. It is not the flashiest climate story, but that is part of the point: some progress shows up in ordinary purchases, lower costs, and less waste. A better tire can be a small piece of a cleaner everyday life.
