Ahmed and Rifat Ali joined volunteers and neighbors this October to watch the DIY SOS story of their Southampton home. The deaf couple had lost their life savings to unsafe building work; hundreds of people helped make the house safe and usable, finishing the rebuild in October 2025.
The repairs included visual fire-alarm and doorbell alerts, color-changing lights and cameras. At the screening a year later, the Alis could see more of the people whose work had changed daily life in their home and thank them in person.
